A windbreak is a row(s) of trees and shrubs that protect areas from wind and provided food and cover for wildlife. An established windbreak slows wind on the downwind side of the windbreak for a distance of 10 times the height of the trees. A windbreak can also protect livestock and a home from snow and winter winds while providing shade during the summer months.
