Manure Storage

The type of manure storage  structure you need depends upon your livestock operation, animal waste management system and planned field application. Types of storages include earthen storage pond, above or below ground tank or a pit underneath a confinement facility. Manure can be pumped, scraped and hauled, pushed or flushed into your storage facility. This practice protects water quality by preventing runoff in feedlots and saves the landowner money from his fertilizer expenses.

Thos individuals who have installed a type of Manure Storage for 2010-2011 include John Wilson of Union Township.  For more information please click on the link below to see the USDA-NRCS standards and specifications for this practice.
