Grassed Waterways

A natural drainage areas of a field which is graded and seeded to a grass cover to protect the field from gully erosion. Vegetation acts as a filter, absorbing some of the chemicals and nutrients in runoff water rather than the runoff water washing away the soil and forming erosion. The vegetation also provides cover for small birds and animals.

Those individuals who have installed this practice in 2010-2011 include; William Ashcraft-Monroe Township; Mike Price-Hilliar Township; Gary Curry-Harrison Township; Brennan Durbin-Monroe Township; Evan Ernest-Morgan Township and Ken Hively-Middlebury Township.
